Kenya - June 16, 2000 - October 27, 2008
Kenya passed away today, on my birthday, of cancer. She had a large tumor on her heart and some others in her body. She filled our house with love and joy and will be sadly missed by my wife and I and our son Jack. Bye Kenya we love you.

Kenya's heart.
Kenya does not seem to be herself lately. The vet has put her in ACE inhibitors to make it easier for her heart. We know the ACE inhibitors will not cure the problem that her heart has, but it will make it easier for her heart to pump more efficiently. We hope she pulls through as she is a faithful companion and best friend to my wife and I. Thanks for all the kind emails. Please keep them coming. kenyaducktoller@yahoo.ca

Not feeling well.
For the last few months Kenya has not been herself. She seemed to be winded very easily and sometimes stumbled along after a hard running outburst. So we brought her in to the vet yesterday, and the vet checked her our and found a heart murmur. The vet suspects some time of heart problem, so with that Kenya will go in for an x-ray tomorrow. If all goes well all she will need is some meds to help out. Please send your well wishes to Kenya at kenyaducktoller@yahoo.ca Thanks!

All's well.
To everyone concerned, thanks for the emails. Much to our relief, Kenya is well and doing fine. She spent the better part of the day at the kennel being "flushed out" with IV and having them feed her charcoal to help absorb any bad stuff (my medical lingo) that was harming her. She is absolutely back to her "normal" self today and just came in from enjoying some running after the last snowballs of the season. Not sure what we'd do without her.
Thanks again.

Quite the scare.
It was quite the scare today with our little Kenya the Duck Toller. I came home for lunch and let her out right away as I made my lunch. 15 minutes later I went out to sit and eat with our dog by my side. I noticed she didn't want to walk and looked sort of dazed. I called her over to me and she stumble along like a drunk, almost falling on her butt several times. I ran to the phone and called the vet, right away, and they asked me to bring her in ASAP. After a quick race to the vet, and some blood tests that came back negative, they decided to keep her there for a while (she's there as I write this) so that they could give her some charcoal and administer IV for the afternoon to "flush" her out. The vet says she should be OK and that she may come home this evening if she responds "normally" to us when we go back to see her at 6pm.
Jeesh, you wouldn't think you could get so attached to an animal but Kenya is truly one of our family members, not just a pet. I'd like to thank all of Kenya's so called fans, who check in regularly, she gets over 50 hits a day which is over 18,000 hits per year, along with several emails a month.

Kenya the Duck Toller
Kenya looks forward to swimming in the lake, or river, or pond. Heck any body of water that she can float in will do!
